Land mines have long been unconventional and completely controversial in terms of warfare. Besides being quite deadly during mass conflict, they have become known for killing and injuring innocent civilians, ensuring some portions of land are unusable for many, many years, and sometimes worse. Unfortunately, a lot of landmines are left over once a war has come to a conclusion, and people still die regularly. Here are ten countries with far too many landmines littered throughout them.

Somalia

Somalia has long had a landmine problem, which has resulted in a lot of conflicts starting. The first mine was laid in 1964, and since then they have continued to be set down due to internal and regional conflicts.

Mozambique

Mozambique experienced nearly 30 years of war, and is known for being one of the poorest countries in Africa, despite receiving a lot of foreign aid. Much of the farmland has become unusable due to the tens of thousands of mines.
